Boys Crying “Wolf”!

The other day, my six-year-old son purposely tried to scare me. He let a red Skittle melt on his finger, and came running to me like he hurt himself. I fell for it. He quickly told me he was kidding. However, the boys have started “playing wolf”, just to see my face! Now, I am pretty certain why the author chose a little boy (instead of a girl), to cry, “Wolf!” Girls are capable of doing this too, but in my experience…the majority of the time it is the boys!

I vaguely remember a story about how BC’s dad put ketchup on BC’s little five-year-old arm to scare his wife (and BC’s mother) into thinking BC was hurt. Well, it appears the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and the tomato doesn’t fall far from the vine (as in ketchup).

Two weeks ago, both of my boys ran over to me and said, “Look…our tongues are green, Mom. We put this marker on it!”

What were y’all thinking?” I said. Then, they burst into smiling and laughing…and said that they were just teasing. They had painted their tongues with a green lick-a-stick! Those boys! And they wonder why I don’t let them eat a lot of candy!
